The largest student accommodation facility in Europe is set to be transformed in the coming years into a modern campus that will meet demanding standards comparable to those abroad. This plan is among the priorities of the university’s new administration, which owns the site. The modernization of the extensive premises on Strahov Hill is of interest to both city and national officials. For this reason, today’s tour of the Strahov dormitories, organized by the Rectorate of the Czech Technical University in Prague in cooperation with student organizations, was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Prague’s Deputy Mayor for Territorial and Strategic Development, Petr Hlaváček.
“In considering the future of the Strahov dormitories, we have an obligation to think about what life here will be like in ten, twenty, thirty years. The implementation of the entire project will take at least a decade. We want it to be more than just housing units; we aim to create a modern campus that offers spaces for study and leisure activities. We see this place as a significant social center that will play an important role across the entire capital city,” explains CTU Rector Michal Pěchouček.
