Strahov Dormitory is one of the largest and most important dormitories. The buildings are erected in close proximity to Strahov Stadium. They were constructed in 1964 – 1965 on the site of demolished sports club dressing rooms, and the dormitory has undergone repairs and modernisations since it opened.

Strahov Dormitory’s location is particularly convenient in terms of being in easy reach of Prague centre. Petřín hill is right nearby, with its extensive gardens, viewing tower, maze and funicular railway, which can be used for faster access to the city centre. This is a great place for relaxation, alongside nearby Kinský Garden.  Prague Castle, surrounded by many historical buildings and gardens, is roughly 15 minutes away from the dormitory.

Sports enthusiasts will be sure to appreciate the sports fields right within the dormitory site. Across the way in the extensive Strahov sports complex, you can visit a pool with sauna, squash court, etc. Park Ladronky, where you can go inline skating, stroll, jog or cycle, is a kilometre away from the dormitory.

There are 11 accommodation blocks within the site, where students are accommodated during the academic year. During the summer months, hostels are run in some of these, except in Block 12 where hostel accommodation is provided year-round in one- and two-bed rooms. Blocks 2 – 5 and Block 10 contain two-bed rooms with sanitary facilities (toilet, shower) and a kitchenette on the corridor. Block 8 contains a residential unit system, in which always two two-bed units share sanitary facilities (toilet, shower) and a kitchenette.

The site also includes an administrative building, Block 1, and Strahov Canteen and Restaurant, where you can eat at attractive prices all day long. There is another restaurant on the ground floor of Block 8, and at night you can visit clubs in Blocks 1, 7, 10 and 11.

In close proximity to the site is a grocery store also stocking a basic range of cosmetic goods. During the working week, there is a buffet open in the entrance hall of Block 1 offering a range of baguette sandwiches, open sandwiches, soups, bakery goods, ice-creams and hot and cold drinks. There are also a number of vending machines on the site selling refreshments.

You can park at the car parks directly on site if needed.
